Let's be honest! No one loves the scale because it is all about facts and truths. Sometimes it is easier to believe that the towel does weight more than to actually see the true number. I remember when I was 195 I use to tell myself that I was actually 10 pounds lighter because I was dressed in clothes. But guess what? Even when I was naked the 195 number still showed up.
The truth SUCKS! Especially when it is about weight and how far you let yourself go. It is not until you decided to be honest with yourself that you can truly change. Honesty is the first step to reaching your goals.
Things to think about...
1. I need to go on a DIET talk...
Great! You finally realized that the number on the scale is real but do you think a diet will work? NO! Diets don't work. Lifestyle changes do. So when you say I need to go on a diet...YOU really should say I need to make a lifestyle change!
2. I will start my new LIFESTYLE change on Monday or after the holidays....
Do NOT wait till Monday or wait till after Memorial day. For me that is throwing away valuable days where you could be learning and growing in this new lifestyle. Don't waist days, there is NO day like TODAY!
3. All my problems will be solved when I lose weight...
WRONG! Losing weight will make you feel wonderful but most people that put on weight also has some ugly demons and negative attitudes about themselves. I continue to fight with them daily...Just because I have lost 50 pounds does not mean that I have the perfect life. Be honest with yourself!
4. The less I eat the FASTER I will lose...
MYTH! The less we eat the slower our metabolism works...which means the slower you lose weight. Eating is a good thing...EATING junk is the bad thing! So pick the right foods and continue to enjoy eating the healthy way! I eat 6-7 times a day because I know my body needs the food to keep me moving! You will learn that less is NOT more!
So BE Honest with yourself! BE REAL! You can do this it just takes time. I started a May challenge group! This group is all about being honest with yourself and with people you don't know.....but it is a great way to develop skills needed to flip your lifestyle into one you will LOVE forever!
