Who needs a superhero when I have Dad...

I honestly believe that my Dad can do it all...he is my real live superhero! I know many of you probably believe that your Father is a superhero too but one without a cape!?!?! Today everyone is celebrating a well deserved day for all those superhero's that don't wear capes.  Families will get together giving gifts to Dads and having meals filled with love... unfortunately I will not see my Dad on this Father's Day because he lives in another country right now. So this post is my Father's Day gift to him...

We don't just run together...we also bike together! I have to say I am a lot faster than him on the bike! I happen to think it is the pink wheels! :)

I am lucky to be able to call my Dad more than just a Father.....He is my workout buddy but mostly he is my best friend.  I have been in aww over my Dad since the day I enter this world.  He always amazes me how much he loves his family and God.  He worked many long hours providing for all 5 of us kids (7 days a week 12 hours shifts) but never failed to miss a basketball game or dance recital.  He seriously could do it all and still can do it all in my eyes! He could make my tears turns into laughter and a broken heart into a heart of steel.

A family that runs together stays together! Dad showed me my love for running and I was able to pass it down to my cousin Diana :) I love my running family!
So many people think I have my Dad wrapped around my finger but honestly he has me wrapped around his.  I never want to disappoint my Dad...when I do disappoint him I am totally crushed.  I try to be the daughter he wants me every single day....but it is not an easy task.  Being the little girl is a hard role to have because I will always be just that his little girl.

I am lucky to have a special relationship with my Dad that my brothers and sisters don't have... we are endurance junkies together! We have had some serious talks out on the road either that be running or biking. We have struggled together, cheered each other on and have seen each other at our worst....but we have been there to watch each other accomplish things that most people only dream of! We like to compete in our races...pushing ourselves to the limit.  It amazes me that my Dad is the one person I want to beat in races but the one person I want to cheer on the most!

First race I have ever beat Dad!!!! Loved every minute of it :) St. Pete's Half 2012

Dad...

You will always be the first man I feel in love with! You can do no wrong in my eyes.  I hope that II have become the daughter that makes you proud!!! You really are my superhero, my best friend and the best man I have in my life! I know someday that might change but always remember that nothing will ever change the way I feel about you.
I am so glad and blessed that we have a life on the road together!!! I am so thankful to be able to have amazing memories of us at races... eating our carbs the night before, having the nerves the morning of and helping each other when the miles get tough.  I am proud to be able to call you my Dad!
Thanks for always being there for us kids and Mom... thanks for working long hours so we could eat and have nice things.  Thanks for showing me the importance of having a good college education and a life with God.  Thanks for being my handy man, my therapist and mostly my Dad! Because of you I do believe that I can do anything and that risk are worth taking! I love you more than you will ever know! Hope you are catching a lot of fish up there in Canada and finding some happy miles on the roads! I MISS YOU!

Love You,
Katie

PS. I can't wait to beat your PR time!!!! :) Let's keep racing together!

Our second Marathon but our first together! This is my favorite picture :)

Try something new... HOT YOGA

I just got home from my first ever HOT yoga!  Let me tell you this...when they say HOT they mean it.  I got there 10 minutes before class started and I was dripping before I even did one single pose.  I am sweat big time normally during exercise that gets my heart pumping.  So I didn't expect to feel like I took a shower within 5 minutes of class.

How did I like it?
Questionable?!?!

It was in a very small room which was super crowded.  I felt they should shut off the class to at least 2-3 people less. It was so tight in the room that I couldn't get into some poses...if I did I would have been in my neighbors space.

The room got to 100 degrees...HOLY CRAP right! I was sweating so bad that I couldn't even hold poses because my feet and hands would slide.  About 40 minutes in I wish that the class would be over soon...but I was only half way through.  50 minutes in I felt as if I could faint because it was so hot... BUT I was really pushing myself holding poses and trying some new things.  I even got into the splits both right and left...AND THEY WERE ALMOST FLAT!!!! I haven't done the splits in years!

The music was super weird! It wasn't the normal calming yoga music I am use too.  The instructor played Grateful dead, Beatles and other non-yoga music. It was unique but I would have liked more peaceful music for my yoga practice.

I did leave with a more peaceful mind, more relaxed and definitely more flexible.  I have a lot of heavy things in my heart and on mind right now...so I needed something to calm and cleanse me.  This class did do that!

Will I go again?

I am a firm believer that you need to try something more than once.  Yes, I will go again! I have a two week pass I am planning on going Friday morning.  This just might not be the right studio for me or maybe Yoga is just not for me.  I do LOVE doing Yoga at home but felt a little different about this class for some reason? Maybe it was the SWEAT!?!? LOL

I am glad that I tried something different!!!! I am now looking to do something different for next week! I need to continue to grow and learn things about myself.  Doing the same thing is boring...plus there is no growth! So stay tuned...

What is something new you been wanting to try???
